What ignorance. While Clinton had lotsa things going on with "that woman", it was consensual. The meme being pushed by the right-wing echo machine implies Clinton's or Edwards' was unwanted advances. Not true. Now they trot out their pitifully inadequate "equivalencies", and hope the dittofied masses will absorb it.
Herman Cain was heading a LOBBYING ORGANIZATION when these matters occurred. THAT's the real story here.
Serendiphany, the cartoon wasn't referring to Lewinsky. What about Bill Clinton raping Juanita Broaddrick?
Since the other "affairs" of Clinton have been so distorted by millions of dollars spent on attack propaganda, I doubt we'll ever hear the truth. As for ant accusations of rape, you're the first I've heard speak of it. Who is your source?
And, most important of all, are you being paid to troll and post? I'm not - I just don't like the thrust of the right-wing media blitz about Cain getting a high-tech lynching like Clarence (impeach him) Thomas...
Serendiphany, your willful ignorance identifies you as a left-wing loon and ideologue. I don't claim to know if Herman Cain did, or did not, engage in sexual harassment, but to utter shear nonsense about "the vast right-wing conspiracy" trying to muddy the waters regarding Clinton's well known proclivity for inappropriate behavior around a variety of women, is laughable. No one needed to fabricate stories...he provided plenty of ammunition for his detrators.
Ms. Broaddrick alleged the rape by Clinton, which she claimed occurred in 1978. During the Paula Jones trial, she recanted her earlier claim of rape. Still, later, she once again corroborated the initial claim of rape. The story was coverd by The Wall Street Journal and had a segment on Dateline NBC.
The following entry was taken from an internet source:
Broaddrick recanted her earlier sworn statement when interviewed by the FBI about the Jones case; the FBI found her account inconclusive, and the affidavit denying the allegations remains her only sworn testimony. Broaddrick later said of the affidavit, "I didn’t want to be forced to testify about one of the most horrific events in my life. I didn't want to go through it again."[2] David Schippers, the Chief Investigative Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee which was holding an inquiry on whether Clinton had committed impeachable offenses, stated that he believed Broaddrick filed the affidavit because of intimidation from Clinton, saying, "She was so terrified. And the reason she was terrified was because she saw what had happened to Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers and all the rest of them."[5] Although Broaddrick claimed that no one had pressured her to file a false affidavit, she complained that she was being watched from parked cars, her home had been broken into, her pets released and her answering machine tape stolen while she and her husband were away briefly, during the House impeachment probe.[5]
And yet AGAIN, regardless of the argument, or the sides taken (left v. right, conservative v. liberal, this party or that one)it always falls into name calling. Why have we lost so much civility? Name calling seems to invalidate the best thought out arguments. It seems so predictable regardless of the topic or the on line publication, the remarks go astray so quickly and suddenly we are transported back to the school yard. I want to believe that we Americans are better than that, yet it happens everyday. Its really too bad because we are at a moment in our history that we all need to find common ground to build on, but that will not happen as long as we yell anonymously from behind our computers at one another and call each other names.
